BITS AND PIECES

Here are a few tidbits of information about some of our players that you might like to know:
Joe Jureviscius has been missing from play for quite a few weeks now. At first, Joe suffered from a serious infection that hospitalized him for several days. Unfortunately, after a brief period of recovery, complications led to even more severe conditions. Joe has been in intensive care for the past week or so and confined to bed for the last 30 days. He is feeling much better and, in his words, “I’m on the rebound.” Got a few minutes? Give Joe a call/text and wish him a complete and speedy recovery (440-668-4227).
Many of our injured players are well on the road to recovery. CHRIS KOZLOWSKI (216-789-1400) is feeling well and in the process of rehabilitating his new hip. Chris hopes to be back in just a few months. NEIL GOLDOFTAS (440-725-4232) is finally feeling a little like normal. He has been out of his shoulder sling for over a month and is increasing the frequency/difficulty of his range-of-motion exercises. He is looking to start strengthening exercises soon. He hopes to start playing left-handed within the next several weeks😊. RICK MARUNIAK (216-406-1274) just underwent minor knee surgery for torn-cartilage repair. Rick hopes to be back by the end of September.
Our deepest sympathies to one of our newest members, Renee Stuart. We haven’t seen much of Renee this summer; she’s been her mother’s major caretaker. Her mother passed away earlier this week.
This past Tuesday, Rick Maruniak, Bob Smith, and Stan Stedman were recognized for their generosity and hospitality for their role in hosting our Five Star Summer Sessions at Pioneer Ridge. The trio will be guests of Five Star at a breakfast place of their choosing. Thanks again guys!!!
Our summer play ends next week. Our last play of the summer season is at Pioneer Ridge on Tuesday, August 30. Our indoor season begins on Friday, September 2. Because of Labor Day, Monday sessions do not begin until September 12. COURT FEES ARE PAST DUE.
Thanks to all of our players that registered for our indoor September/October sessions at Northridge Racket and Paddle. YOUR EARLY COMMITMENT HAS HELPED US SECURE AT LEAST 4 COURTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON. These courts are now guaranteed to Five Star until we no longer need them. Because of this ‘position of strength’, we are hopeful of securing additional courts as they are needed and become available. Pickleball is becoming more popular every year and space at Northridge is more difficult to secure. We could not do what we do without your support.
